That can be frustrating, but that is why you write for yourself and not for pay.
It’s very important to write for yourself. In fact, it’s extremely important to write for yourself. But if you think you can take care of that yourself, write for pay. If you are not having trouble getting work, then it is a huge mistake to think that you can write for a living.
A few hundred pages of fiction is a lot of work that gets published a few years before the next bestseller. The same goes for movies and books. If you’re writing for someone else and they’ve been given an advance, you’re not doing much at all. But if you’re writing for yourself and you’re making progress, then it’s a lot easier to get your writing done.
The trouble with writers is that they often lack the time to finish their work. When writing for yourself, it is important to have the time to write. The more you write, the more you will learn, and you will have a better chance of getting published. I often advise people to just write, take a break, and come back to it when its ready. That might seem like a daunting task, but it can be the most rewarding part of the entire writing process.
