One of the most important things we can do when it comes to being aware is to “voluntarily” or “cooperatively” comply with our surroundings and the actions of others. We all have to be aware that this can be a bit tricky depending on our own personality, but there are a few general principles that should apply to all behaviors.
If you have to ask why you are doing something, you are not doing it correctly. If you have to ask why someone is doing something, you’re not doing it right. If you have to ask why someone is doing something, you’re not doing it for the right reasons. If you have to ask why someone was doing something, you’re not doing it for the right reasons.
In the spirit of voluntary compliance, we wanted to take a break from our usual “go, do,” this week, and take a short break from our usual “talk, talk, talk,” this week. We wanted to talk about it on the podcast, of course. But we wanted to talk about it here because it’s an important discussion.
To understand voluntary compliance you have to understand what it is. Simply put, it is the ability to make your own decisions. The things that you decide to do are what make up your personal life (such as making your bed, taking your vitamins, or getting your coffee), and anything you do outside that is governed by your own values. When I say “personal life”, I mean things like your career, relationships, health, and so on.
The key is to realize that your own decisions are part of your personal life, that you are not controlling what you do. A good example of this is how we work. We can sit in our cubicles and say we’re working on a project that will save the world, but we can’t control what we do.
As a rule of thumb, we’re pretty good at deciding what kinds of work we want to do. We really don’t look at what we actually do, because it is subjective. However, if you want to work on a project that requires you to work with people, you are likely to choose that type of work. We get that we can’t have the luxury of thinking we can’t be wrong, because it might cause us to fail.
The problem with this is that we dont have any real idea of what we are doing, or what we have to do to get there. Because were are not in control of their own actions. We are the product of society, and what we do affects the lives of others in a way they cant control. So, in a sense, we are doing the work that we want to do, but at the same time we are also responsible for the consequences.
But if we know what we want to do and why we want to do it, then it is possible to control our own actions and our own responsibility for the results. That is voluntary compliance, and it is a good thing.
Voluntary compliance is a good thing because it allows us to make the right choice, we are not just the product of society, and, we are responsible for our own actions and for the consequences of our actions.
As a society we tend to see voluntary compliance as the good thing that we want, but as a society we also tend to view voluntary compliance as the bad thing we want. We tend to think that if we are not willing to follow through with our own voluntary compliance, then we will be punished, or that if we are willing to follow through then we will get rewarded for it.
