The potlikker papers are a series of six essays written between 1791 and 1822 by Dutch botanist, Georges Cuvier and his friend Louis Joseph Gay-Lussac. Cuvier’s father, a physician in Utrecht, was a member of a group of French botanists that visited the Dutch Republic in the late 1780s.
