Thanksgiving week is a great time to reflect on the week’s performance and the impact that the last week’s events have had on the market. It’s a time to evaluate your current state of mind, to reflect on the future, and to look ahead with optimism because next week will be a lot brighter.
I think we’re all aware that the stock market is a huge financial instrument used to make or break companies. I think we’ve all seen the chart of the S&P 500 as it began back in the early 80s. With the exception of the last decade, the S&P 500 has been quite volatile over the years, going through a number of periods of bull and bear markets. The stock market has never been this volatile and has never been this volatile.
We need to be aware that the market is, in fact, volatile because the market is also a huge financial instrument. A high-level financial instrument, stock market, is just one of many ways that the world of economics can be made more or less attractive to investors. So if the stock market is up, odds are good that you are also up.
