The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them. Whereas a person with self-awareness is able to exercise a little meta-cognition and say, “Hmm… every time my sister calls me and asks for money, I end up drinking a lot of vodkas.

Our goal in Deathloop is to take out eight Visionaries, intelligent party-lovers who’ve locked an island into one repeating day so they can piss about for eternity.
The game’s designers are hoping this new trailer will give people with a bit of self-awareness the chance to exercise that little meta-cognition. We can’t help but wonder if the game will also encourage players to take out their own ego and be more aware of their actions.
Again, it’s nice to see the game developers are finally thinking about meta-cognition, especially in the game’s title. While on the surface Deathloop appears as a somewhat boring and “non-eventful” game, the developers are hoping this trailer will get players thinking more about their own behavior and the effect it has on the world around them.
One of the things I’ve noticed about Deathloop is that there is no real way for us to know how much of the game we are playing until the credits roll. But by the end of the video, I’m not the only one who was wondering how the game would tie in to the meta-cognition theme.
When we take out the visionary and we are able to stop him, something happens very quickly. The next time we see him, if you look around you can see one of his eyes twitching. He looks like a baby with a baby face.
If you have a good idea of where this player is, you could play around the map to find a way to go in and kill him. There is a very specific technique that they use that gives an advantage, and it involves them moving through the map in a specific way. I can’t tell you the name of the technique, but I will tell you that by killing the visionary, you can get the option to kill the next one.
One thing you can’t do is play like the good guys, because that would be cheating. So how do you get around the idea that you need to kill the visionary? You look for the opportunity to kill the visionary and then take their place. The “opportunity” is very specific and can only be found on certain maps.
The story’s only about a group of five people that have a unique ability to fight. They can do anything they want and they will hunt down the visionary and then head back to the graveyard. A group of them are the same group of five people. The group would make the same decision as the last group, but could be quite different. As a result of the group’s intelligence, they can take out two Visionaries and find the most common spot on the map.
